US Food Safety tries  to answer all questions regarding food safety issues to the best of our ability.   Please submit questions to: http://www.usfoodsafety.com/contact.asp

I am a 58 yr old female who ate the tainted pistachios in the recalled Kraft, Back To Nature Trail Mix. I was ill with severe diarrhea and stomach cramps for about 2 1/2 days and although it is 5 days since the diarrhea subsided I am not 100%.

This woman sought medical attention. She was told she had Salmonella. She contacted Kraft and the UPC of her product was part of the recall.

Note: This reader contracted the first case of Salmonella US Food Safety knows of that is part of the pistachio recall related to Setton Farms.

I can’t find True North Pistachio Crisps on either list.

(A by Frito-Lay product) — Any idea??

According to their website, this item is not a recalled product.

The item will be included on http://www.usfoodsafety.com/good_pistachio.html.

I bought the Kirland Salt & Pepper pistachios (3 lb)from Costco.

Are these also on the recall list? All I saw on the recall list was the Kirkland Roasted pistachios 4 lbs from Costco.

We’re still researching this. Please provide us with the UPC.

I would like information on what your guidelines are for getting a job as a blogger for your site.

You need to have a passion for a food safety issue. Kindly provide a writing sample.

I have been trying to buy the recalled product since last week,

it’s nice to know why none of our stores have it. I need one inner lid to

get the free Prevention magazine subscription, will I still be able to get

it by the 30th. Thank You!

You’re referring to the Stonyfield Yogurt Recall. We spoke with Stonyfield. There are other lids from Stonyfield that are applicable for the free subscription.

I wanted to let you know that our Wonderful Pistachios, one of the top sellers, is not affected by the recent recall. I did not see it listed on your site. Would you please consider adding it?. Thank you.

We have included your product.  Thanks.

What about the Sunkist Pistachio (shells removed)that I purchased from COSTCO? These are packed by Paramount Farms in Los Angeles, CA. Need to know if I should continue to eat these (no problems yet!) or throw the bag away?

The information we recieved is that products produced by Paramount Farms are fine and not part of this recall.

I just finished a container of Planter’s heart healthy mix that

is on the pistachio recall list! When will I know if I have salmonella?

Are the effects immediate? I started eating them 4 days ago. Are headaches a symptom?

We are not medical professionals. Please see our disclaimer. If you suspect you have a foodborne illness see a health care provider immediately.

Thank you Susan. Will there be anything published via your website when it is safe to eat pistachios again? I don’t remember seeing anything on the peanut recall as to when it was ok to eat them again. And, yes..this will not be good for the pistachio industry….what a shame.

US Food Safety doesn’t know when it will be safe again to eat all pistachio products.  http://www.usfoodsafety.com contains a “Safe” pistachio list and a recalled pistachio list.

US Food Safety projects this recall will be larger than the peanut recall.

Are Archer farms raw mixed nuts ( containing pistachios) being recalled? thanks. Some Archer Farms products are recalled. Check the website for a comprehensive alphabetized list.
