Today’s FDA retail list of stores that carried the sausage product due to possible Salmonella contamination has one burning question yet to be answered.
What percentage of product went where? While we now know that the product went everywhere, and had a national impact, exactly who had what remains a mystery.
Below is a quick overview of the major players:
Costco, Sam’s Club and Walmart stores nationally AND Kroger stores in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, North Ca rolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Market Basket has over 52 stores in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Smith’s has stores in Arizona, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and West Virginia.
As usual, the food recall impact has wide reaching consequence to retailers who expend man hours pulling and returning product.
While FDA touts their commitment to food safety, January 2009 and January 2010 have been record breaking months. Remember Peanuts ‘09?
Now let’s wait and hope that no one gets ill or dies from bad sausage.
