Wait. He eats canned spinach, doesn’t he? So he wouldn’t be affected by today’s recall for fresh spinach. The Fresh Express Company of Salinas, California announced a recall of almost 3,000 cases of its bagged fresh spinach product. Laboratory tests proved positive to Salmonella contamination from a random sampling of spinach samples. While Salmonella food poisoning is one of the most common known to man, Salmonella bacteria can be very harmful and potentially fatal when consumed by humans.
Spinach, like all leafy vegetables grown in the soil, is very susceptible to bacteria. Keep your family safe and thoroughly wash your veggies. Some bacteria strains are resistant to heat. So cooking isn’t always the fallback answer to serving fresh leafy veggies.
I fight to the finish ’cause I eat my spinach I’m Popeye the sailor man..toot toot.
