Interactive culinary experiences

I’ve been watching some reality tv, because it is a great way to relax after a stressful day. I have been drawn to food shows ( surprise, surprise) one being Cake Boss and the other, Platinum Brides.  Very different shows, both food related.

You have to love Buddy on Cake Boss, what a guy and the way he makes those cakes, it is an art form. Your Sesame Street cake rocked. Platinum Brides is about over the top brides paying an huge amount for weddings.

The stations is what fascinates me, I.m sorry I have to be politically correct here. Interactive culinary experiences, that I experienced yesterday in Boston for Valentines Day.  Servers, observing food safety rules to the nth degree, with impeccable glove clad hands making everything from omlettes to crepes, carving roast beef and the best salmon I ever tasted. The interactive past was that the servers asked what you wanted, prepared it and put it artfully on your plate.

Stations, not to be confused with the “experience” had a wide array of everything decadent including fruit, desserts, and a chocolate fountain. My favorite shrimp and oysters on the half shell, were way at the back of the room.

Buddy, you don’t have to worry, I’m sure your pastries were better than yesterdays fare. Next time I’m in Jersey. I’ll check out your place.
