UPDATE: The Grill 23 had a fire and that was the reason for the temporary suspension of their permit. Thank you from the City of Boston Health Department.

As you may have read, I owe my husband a birthday dinner. Grill 23 is lovely and the meat is great. Their license has been suspended temporarily by the Boston Board of Health but no reasons are listed.

Voted Best of Boston 2010, this restaurant is beautiful. We wonder why any company would jeopardize their stature.

Here is a quote from their website:

In 2010, Grill 23 & Bar has been awarded (for the 6th consecutive year) Best of Boston, Steakhouse by the Improper Bostonian, as well as winning Boston Magazine’s coveted Boston’s Best award for Best Upscale Steak. In 2009, Grill 23 was nationally recognized by Food Network star Rachael Ray in her monthly magazine as the #1 steakhouse in the Northeast and among the best in the country and Boston Magazine’s Top 50 Restaurants. Since its debut, Grill 23 & Bar has earned rave reviews from the editors of major food publications such as, Gourmet, Food & Wine, Town & Country and The Boston Globe. Grill 23 & Bar is also consistently awarded with top honors from wine and travel magazines, such as New England Travel & Life, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator and Mobil Travel Guide.
