According to the FDA Enfocement Report, 488, 303 cases of Papayas have been recalled from commerce since the initial recall back in July. What “recalled from commerce” means is that the papayas were taken off store shelves and no longer distributed.

This was a nationwide recall and the recall is ongoing.

As you may recall, the papayas were contaminated with Salmonella agona and illnesses and hospitalizations were reported.
