DUNDEE, MI (Toledo News Now) –

A child in Michigan opened up his fast food lunch and may have gotten more than he bargained for.

On Tuesday, Dundee Police responded to a call at the Dundee Burger King on Tecumseh Street. That’s where they found a grandfather with quite the story to tell.

The grandfather was on vacation at Splash Universe in Dundee with his family and was at the Burger King to pick up food for everyone else. When he got back, he gave his 4-year-old grandson the kid’s meal he’d just bought.

“He handed the kid’s meal that he had gotten at Burger King to his 4-year-old grandson and when they opened it up they found a loaded marijuana pipe inside the kid’s meal,” said Dundee Police Chief David Uhl.

Police say that a 23-year-old employee admitted to bringing the pipe and the pot to work. Two other suspects were identified as well.
“[The grandfather] had seen them in the parking lot and saw them interacting with the employee, so he thought that was suspicious, so he did a really great thing: He wrote down a description of the car and gave a license plate,” Uhl explained.
When an officer arrived on the scene, the grandfather gave the information to him and the officer was able to identify the suspects.
The officer also confiscated the paraphernalia and the drugs found in the suspect’s vehicle that was seen leaving the Burger King parking lot.
All three suspects were cited for drug paraphernalia. Additional charges could be coming.
“Very serious when our children are involved,” the chief said. “Luckily, this family was on top of it and saw it right away when the grandson opened it up.”
