From Karen

Is corn meal bad if it expired in april 2013 even if its been opened?

According to the Ohio State University Extension, cornmeal should be kept in a zipper-lock bag stored in the freezer to prevent the oil in the product from becoming rancid. The cornmeal can be kept for 12 months.

I would discard the cornmeal. Remember the adage, if in doubt, throw it out.

I got to thinking about cornstarch since I make my own chocolate cornstarch pudding.

Cornstarch 18 months. Keep tightly closed.
