Coffee Prices on the Rise

Posted on June 11, 2014 by

HuffPost Business reports that Dunkin Donuts is increasing coffee prices in response to rising bean costs caused by abnormally wet weather in Central America and droughts in Brazil. [Editorial comment: don’t you love the irony.]

According to National Geographic, “a fungus that’s commonly known as rust has killed so many coffee trees in Central America that scientists have speculated the region could lose up to 40 percent of its coffee crop.”

Price increases are not limited to coffee. The prices of donuts and food items are expected to increase as well.
